Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

I read Gone Girl by Flynn first, and thought it was so ridiculous. Great, but ridiculous in how dark and crazy the characters were.

Well, Dark Places blows Gone Girl away in how crazy the characters are. Gillian Flynn has an amazing talent for writing interesting books with characters that you neither like nor sympathize with.

In Dark Places, I loved that Flynn added flashbacks from both the mother and brother of the main character. It really helped give a back story to these other characters. Not only that, but the flashbacks begin giving a timeline of the day of the massacre. Almost every flashback gives you a new potential theory for who murdered the family.

In the end, you'll be surprised and not surprised at the "truth". I know it doesn't make sense but it will once you read the book. And I definitely suggest reading this book!

Synopsis: Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice". She survived, and accused her 15-yr-old brother, Ben, of being the killer. 25 years later, The Kill Club asks Libby for more details, trying to prove Ben innocent. Libby hopes to profit off her tragic history. The unimaginable truth emerges and Libby finds herself back on the run from a killer.
