Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah’s, The Nightingale is one of my favorite WWII books due to it's creativity and writing style. After I read that, I knew I had to read more of her books. I finally listened to Between Sisters and although it won't be making my favorites list, I really enjoyed this story of familial love.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This is my first 5/5 star read of 2019 which seems kind of crazy since it's already April and I've almost read about 30 books. It is so beautifully written and perfectly balances a story of growing up and survival along with a murder mystery that makes every page so intriguing and enthralling that so many readers will find themselves enjoying it.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

It is a darker fantasy novel but almost reads like a fairytale which is why I found it such a compelling read. It contradicts itself just enough to pull you in and capture you in the intriguing plot and characters that you never went to let go. Luckily, there are more installments to this series that I'll be able to read very soon!

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

Overall, I enjoyed it and was happy to listen to the book that I've been seeing pop-up in a lot of places. However, I feel like I only got so much out of this book and at times I felt like Manson was just reiterating the same few points over and over again.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondō

I recently watched Marie Kondō's Netflix Series and became mildly obsessed with the idea of decluttering and then reorganizing; so I decided to also read her book that started it all. Although a bit ridiculous at times-I'm not about to say hello and thank you to my clothes throughout the day- I did get some great advice from reading this book.

Taming Her Mate by Kathy Lyons

This book was a pretty typical shifter romance and I was expecting all the typical moments and thus wasn’t upset by the predictability as that’s really what you’re hoping for in a shifter romance. It’s part of a larger series but definitely can standalone, you don’t need to read the earlier books to understand what is going on.

In An Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire

Every time I get scared that the next installment in this Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire is going to be the one that tanks, I am shocked all over again that it is just as perfect as the last. Although not my favorite so far of the series, In An Absent Dream is still a beautiful fairy tale that truly captivated me from beginning to end.

Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

I listened to the audio version of this book read by Rachel Hollis herself because a few co-workers suggested it. I hadn't seen all the reviews beforehand, and woah are they a mix of hate and obsession! I fall somewhere in the middle for this one as there were certain chapters that were good and entertaining, but other chapters were a bit ridiculous.

A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza

I have tried reading many many family dramas in my past and I've only liked maybe 1 or 2, so I just know it's not my genre and to stay away. Well, my book club chose this book for January and I am so beyond glad they did as I would have never been able to enjoy this book so thoroughly otherwise!

The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo

This novel by Yangsze Choo was beautifully written and included so many things that make a fantastic story; mystery, history, magical realism and romance. There was also ancient Chinese folklore surrounding a tiger and restless spirits, which lead to significant superstition from the community members.
