Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks
I hate to say this, but I'm starting to lose my love for Nicholas Sparks. The Wedding is one of my favorite romances, and book in general, and I've always thoroughly enjoyed reading a Sparks novel. However, the last two books I read: Every Breath and See Me seemed to be half-assed. Sure, Sparks has a following, but that's not a reason to get lazy in your writing.

Anna Karenina, Fight Club, Norse Mythology, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Small Spaces, Shantaram, And Then There Were None, and others. (It’s a long one!)
Read MoreSmall Spaces by Katherine Arden
Since I have now read 3 of Arden's books, I can officially say I am obsessed with her writing and storytelling. I cannot say enough good things about this book or about Katherine Arden and I am so excited to have found her books this year.
Read MoreThe Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
While reading, I found truth, joy, love and a sad, sweet melancholy that pulled at my heart and made me fall right into the pages. This book touched me so deeply that I know it will stay with me for years to come and I'll find myself rereading it in the near future.
Read MoreNorse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
I have always been a fan of mythology and the tales of Odin, Thor and Loki have always been especially entertaining. When I saw that Neil Gaiman was rewriting some of these famous tales, I knew I had to read it.
Read MoreFight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
I'm disappointed that I watched the movie version first of Fight Club, as I would have loved to read this book and not know the ultimate twist. However, even knowing the twist that was coming, and being able to catch the clues earlier, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is brilliant and disturbing.
Read MoreAnna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
I really wanted to enjoy this book more, but I can't say that I did. I appreciated certain aspects of it and Tolstoy can be a good author, however this was a perfect example of one of the classics that went on too long and bored me at several intervals.
Read MoreWhat if an Octopus Followed me Home? by Pamela D. Beverly
I loved the illustrations of this book and appreciated the message that Pamela D. Beverly was trying to get across of how to be a good friend and care for others' needs, however it got slightly altered with the wordiness of the story.
Read MoreThe Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman
I was surprised by how dark this book was. Not in the creepy psychological thriller way but rather this gut wrenching make you feel sick and your heart hurt kind of way.
Read MoreIf You Find Me by Emily Murdoch
Overall, I appreciated the concept and the successes this author was able to accomplish on what was probably a difficult task but I found other parts lacking.

Beneath the Sugar Sky, Lolita, Anna Karenina, Shantaram and others.
Read MoreLolita by Vladimir Nabokov
This book is worth reading since it is a classic and Vladimir is a writer on his own level, but you won’t necessarily want to recommend it to others, nor will you probably ever want to reread it.
Read MoreBeneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire
This book of the series, like the others, is a perfect mixture of whimsical and important. It is about hope, acceptance and love and how we are all on the search for this in our lives. It is dark and weird, but truly charming. So I am now anxiously waiting for the fourth book set to come out in 2019.
Read MoreOne Last Thing Before I Go by Jonathan Tropper
I think that had I read this book of Trooper's first, I would have liked it more. But after reading "This is Where I Leave You", which I loved, I expected more from this book.
Read MoreLuckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
A friend told me I should read this book after we both talked about “Girl on the Train" and “Gone Girl" since it was compared to these books so often. Although there were moments I liked, overall I was just annoyed with this book.
Read MoreStardust by Neil Gaiman
I really enjoy Gaiman's writing style. This is the second book I've read of his and it definitely didn't disappoint.
Read MoreAll the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Although the beginning was a bit slow, I was captivated the entire time by the different characters that were introduced as well as the story line. The fact that it slowly wove itself together so that almost all the characters were connected was an amazing way of writing it.

The Secret Keeper, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, Every Heart a Doorway, Down Among the Sticks and Bones and the books I’m currently reading.
Read MoreDown Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire
This book is once again an eerie, dark fairy tale from McGuire. But this novel focuses on breaking down ideas of what it means to be a girl. Because there is no one or two ways to be a girl. It’s a short, quick read with beautiful writing and made me even more determined to read the author’s next book.
