Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks

I hate to say this, but I'm starting to lose my love for Nicholas Sparks. The Wedding is one of my favorite romances, and book in general, and I've always thoroughly enjoyed reading a Sparks novel. However, the last two books I read: Every Breath and See Me seemed to be half-assed. Sure, Sparks has a following, but that's not a reason to get lazy in your writing.

While reading, I found truth, joy, love and a sad, sweet melancholy that pulled at my heart and made me fall right into the pages. This book touched me so deeply that I know it will stay with me for years to come and I'll find myself rereading it in the near future.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

I'm disappointed that I watched the movie version first of Fight Club, as I would have loved to read this book and not know the ultimate twist. However, even knowing the twist that was coming, and being able to catch the clues earlier, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is brilliant and disturbing.

Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire

This book of the series, like the others, is a perfect mixture of whimsical and important. It is about hope, acceptance and love and how we are all on the search for this in our lives. It is dark and weird, but truly charming. So I am now anxiously waiting for the fourth book set to come out in 2019.

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Although the beginning was a bit slow, I was captivated the entire time by the different characters that were introduced as well as the story line. The fact that it slowly wove itself together so that almost all the characters were connected was an amazing way of writing it.

Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire

This book is once again an eerie, dark fairy tale from McGuire. But this novel focuses on breaking down ideas of what it means to be a girl. Because there is no one or two ways to be a girl. It’s a short, quick read with beautiful writing and made me even more determined to read the author’s next book.
